EPDM Rubber (Full name: ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is a synthetic rubber polymer that offers superior properties for outdoor and high ozone environment applications. EPDM Rubber provides good resistance against acids, alkali and ketones than other types of rubber sheeting, and is commonly used in applications where high temperature (up to 220°F is required.

Product Details

EPDM Rubber (Full name: ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is a synthetic rubber polymer that offers superior properties for outdoor and high ozone environment applications. EPDM Rubber provides good resistance against acids, alkali and ketones than other types of rubber sheeting, and is commonly used in applications where high temperature (up to 220°F is required.

EPDM rubber is an M-class rubber. The M refers to its ASTM classification standard D-1418. M class consists of elastomers having a saturated chain of polymethylene (a form of polyethylene). EPDM rubber is a semi-crystalline material with ethylene-type crystal structures at higher ethylene contents, becoming essentially amorphous at ethylene contents that approach 50 wt%.

EPDM Rubber has a much better resistance to heat, light, and ozone when compared to other rubber materials, such as Natural Rubber, SBR, or Neoprene. With EPDM’s capability to withstand higher temperature environments, it is capable of being used in outdoor environments for many years, without degradation. The flexibility of EPDM if good into lower temperatures as well, maintaining its elastic properties in temperatures as low as -22°F. Due to the nature of EPDM rubber, it has a poor resistance to fuels, oils and alcohols.

EPDM Rubber comes in 48″ Standard roll widths, and is sold per square foot.
