Butyl Rubber is a black sheet rubber with excellent resistance to water, steam, gases and vapor. Butyl is a synthetic rubber, made by creating a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene. Due to its synthetic rubber nature, Butyl Rubber has good resistance to heat, oxygen, ozone, alkalis and oxygenated solvents.
Butyl Rubber is useful in airtight applications, being impermeable to air and being a more durable, yet pliable rubber. This makes Butyl Rubber suitable for both outdoor and aqueous chemical tank lining applications.
Butyl Rubber is available in 1/8″ and 1/4″ thicknesses standard. Other Thicknesses may be available for special order (Minimum quantities apply). Butyl rubber comes in standard 48″ rolls, and is sold by the square foot.
